A typical week in the Rainbows Room includes a variety of educational activities that promote a sense of ‘being, belonging and becoming’. One of our favourite activities is our weekly playgroup called ‘Wrinkles and Dimples’ held at the Ashwood Care Home, where we promote intergenerational learning and create new opportunities for senior citizens and young children to benefit from each other’s company. The children enjoy going on fun outings, such as bowling, fruit picking and visits to various farms, which presents the children with the opportunity to try new and fun things. The children in the Rainbow room love getting out of the classroom and exploring outdoors; you will often find us building dens, finding rocks and going on nature hunts at Charlton’s Fish pond located in a close vicinity to the Smiles building.
Staff have an important role to play helping your child become ready for school and we even encourage the wearing of uniforms as part of this process.
With still lots of time for fun, we ensure your child follows a carefully planned curriculum that will allow them to develop their skills in the key areas of learning and development,
Your child’s learning journey by now is almost finished at this point and prior to them leaving the nursery this will be shared with the school you have chosen. We work hard with our local schools by encouraging teachers to come to the nursery to discuss school with the children, as well as organizing visits to schools, so the children can experience it for themselves.
We will work closely with you to find your child’s likes and dislikes, any special dietary requirements, allergies and any other information that will help us to make your child’s time at nursery as comfortable as possible.
At the end of each day, when you come to pick your child up, a member of our team will provide a verbal report, we also have parents evening to keep you up to date
Our room leader will be more than happy to chat with you; why not pop in or give her a call?
